Liam unfortunately had another setback early this morning. His white blood cell count rose to 30,000 and his lactate jumped from around 1.2 to over 8, which is very dangerous. They’ve added a different course of antibiotics to treat an infection.
His team explained that the new stent that was placed in the shunt is shearing the red blood cells as they pass through, so he will need to get more blood transfusions. They’ve also had to sedate him and put him back on the ventilator to help his heart rate and breathing.
