Scary Setback

Liam has been showing improvements each day since his surgery, but last night we had a scary setback. He woke up from his nap and was pretty agitated, which continued to escalate quickly, and nothing could calm him down. His color became dusky, and a few members from his medical team started to come into the room to figure out what was going on. His oxygen saturation began to drop from the mid 80s down to the 70s and then plummeted to the 30s. His respiration level skyrocketed, and we had to quickly put him on a high flow of oxygen which didn’t help. They called a rapid response and within a minute there were 13 people running in his room, from the Heart and Kidney Unit, the Pediatric ICU, IV Therapy, Radiology, Cardiology, and theCardiac ICU. They began doing chest x-rays in the room, drawing blood, rapidly putting in IVs, giving him high doses of strong medicine, boosting his oxygen, and quickly checking different things that could be wrong. It was absolutely terrifying, all I could do was stand near his hospital bed, looking at my wife, then at Liam, and then at the blur of people running in and out of the room. After about an hour they were able to get him stable, but they are not sure what caused this or if this will happen again. They are running more tests so we should hopefully know more this morning about what exactly is wrong, but please keep Liam in your thoughts and prayers over the next few hours. ❤️ #LiamStrong
